What We Do
Independent Living Housing Society of Greater Victoria is a non-profit organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Founded in 1976, we provide group homes, a respite care home, and apartments. The organization consists of approximately 80 employees providing care to 24 clients and 20 respite guests.
The Society acts as the administrative body while promoting, encouraging and supporting clients to:
- Develop independent living skills to the best of their ability
- Become involved in their community
- Live in a manner consistent with their needs, interests and capabilities
- Be fully involved in all independent living decisions
- Maintain their individuality, dignity, privacy and confidentiality
The Society will make provisions for a comprehensive range of services in a consistent coordinated manner reflecting a common philosophy. and will work co-operatively with other private, public and professional groups which support our mission and philosophy.
